Richard S. Schneider, Ph.D.
Dr.
Schneider joined the board of Pacific Horizon Ventures in 1998.
His career in venture capital spans fifteen years. For ten years,
he was a General Partner at Domain Associates, a venture capital
fund based in Princeton, NJ that specializes in life science
investments. Earlier he was General Partner at 3i Ventures.
Dr. Schneider spent nearly eighteen years as an executive with Syntex
Corporation, a pharmaceutical company, and related subsidiaries.
Dr. Schneider has a B.A. in chemistry from the University of California,
Berkeley and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.
Harold Shattuck
Mr.
Shattuck joined the board of Pacific Horizon Ventures in 1998. Since
1991, he has been the President of MC Techinvest, a specialized
consulting firm serving early- and growth-stage companies. He spent
several years in venture capital with Xerox Venture Capital and
Motor-Columbus, a Swiss Corporation investing in the United States.
Earlier, he held senior positions with Amdahl Corporation and Montgomery
Securities. Mr. Shattuck received a B.S.E.E. from North Dakota State
University and later attended business school at Stanford University.
Franklin P."Pitch" Johnson
Mr.
Johnson joined the board of Pacific Horizon Ventures in 2000.
He brings with him 40 years of experience in venture capital as
the founder of Asset Management Company. Previously, he was a co-founder
of Draper and Johnson Investment Company. Mr. Johnson is currently
is on the board of directors of Amgen and IDEC Pharmaceuticals.
He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford
and an M.B.A. from Harvard University, and served in the U. S. Air
Force.
John M. Steel
Mr. Steel joined the board of Pacific Horizon Ventures in 1998.
He is a principal in the law firm of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary in Seattle, where he manages the firm’s securities
practice. Mr. Steel has over twenty-five years experience in corporate
finance and securities law. He received his B.A from Stanford University
and is a graduate of the University of Washington Law School.
Peter H. Van Oppen
Mr. Van Oppen has been a limited partner in every Pacific Horizon Ventures fund since 1993 and joined the Pacific Horizon Ventures board of advisors in 2005. Mr. Van Oppen is the Chairman and CEO of Advanced Digital Information Corporation (NASDAQ: ADIC). The professional relationship between Mr. Van Oppen and Mr. Elmer dates to the 1970s when they were both employed in the Seattle office of Price Waterhouse & Co. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Western Wireless Corporation and The Basketball Club of Seattle, a former director of the Seattle Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and a current Trustee of Whitman College. Mr. Van Oppen received his B.A. from Whitman College and has an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
